If you thought that industrial hard rock/metal was dead, think again. 1.0 is the debut album from Never Enough (or N3V3R 3N0U6H as they are also called/labeled), a band comprised of vocalist/guitarist Norman Matthew (Lylah), guitarist/vocalist Keith Barney (Eighteen Visions/Throwdown/Death By Stereo), and drummer Trevor Friedrich. Inspired by bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Orgy, Korn,and even a little Marilyn Manson, 1.0 is littered with bubbling electronics, power guitar riffs, acoustic & electronic drums, and a myriad of vocal styles. For the most part, you get a good mix of upbeat, almost danceable techno-flavored heavy rock, as well as more dark, gothic tinged pieces highlighted by electronic soundscapes and lilting guitar textures. Tunes like "To The Bottom", "No One Cares", "The Devil I Am", "On Sunday", and "Where the Rain" are all catchy songs with just enough going on to keep things interesting, and the band's remake of the Tears for Fears classic "Shout" really is a lot of fun. However, some of the more somber pieces tend to drag on a bit, and overall the album probably is not heavy enough for most of the metal crowd, but if you like industrial & gothic tinged hard rock with an 80's flair, this most certainly will be for you.
