The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza: Danza II-The Electric Boogaloo

Often hailed as one of the most extreme bands on the planet, Louisiana's The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza (gotta love that name!) are back with their sophomore release Danza II-The Electric Boogaloo. These five metalheads have once again attempted to raise the bar, to deliver metal so brutal, so technical, so ferocious, that one listen is enough to send you straight to a mental asylum. Funny thing is, as chaotic and brutal as the music is here on Danza II-The Electric Boogaloo, it's all so damn well played and executed, the arrangements so precise, and the sense of lurid humor in the lyrics so obviously meant to be fun, that it's hard to fault these guys for ultimately sounding so over the top. Jessie Freeland's vocals (well, it's hard to actually call them vocals) run the gamut from zombie screams to deep impenetrable growls-check out his lunatic performance on the title track or the manic "Go Greyhound" for proof of this guy's extreme delivery. In the end though it's the insane guitar work of Layne Meylain and Brad Thomson, two superb players who wrench every last note and riff out of their guitars, tie them up in double & triple knots, then snap them back again and smack them against the wall, that really is the selling point here. Technical? Yes. Heavy? Absolutely. I dare you not to be immediately impressed by the savage tech-metal mayhem of "Mad Max Beyond Superdome" or the wickedly crushing "Nobody Eats BBQ Two Days in a Row", both great examples of these two guitarist's abilities to throw together riffs and lines that seemingly don't go together but ultimately do. Kudos also to drummer Mason Crooks, who flails away like a madman throughout these songs but manages to somehow keep everything in check alongside bassist Mike Butler.

You might be totally out of breath after listening to Danza II-The Electric Boogaloo, as it's a 32-minute listening experience that certainly won't leave you bored by any means.
