Indianapolis metal act Demiricous return with their latest slab o' aggression, titled Two (Poverty). After releasing their debut One (Hellbound) back in 2006, the band has been quite busy touring with a host of extreme metal acts, honing up their live skills to the point where they were pretty certain that their next studio album would be a step up in the right direction. Chances are if you liked their debut, then this latest will more than please your metal needs. Utilizing the services of acclaimed metal producer (and guitarist of Hate Eternal) Erik Rutan, Two (Poverty) is a pretty huge sounding record, big on thick, beefy riffs and the angry shouts of singer/bassist Nate Olp, who has a very aggressive old-school hardcore style yet mixed with more than a little bit of Tom Araya (Slayer) type thrash screams. "Tusk and Claw" especially sounds like it could have been a lost track from Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss record, complete with raging drum blasts, grueling guitar riffs, acrobatic solos, and manic vocals. The band mixes in just the right amount of thrash, hardcore, and death metal influences here to keep things interesting and varied, and while Two (Poverty) not be the most original sounding CD you'll hear this year, this is still strong and enjoyable material that, despite its familiar feel, still kicks plenty of ass when you get right down to it.
