Tankard: Beast of Bourbon

This European thrash collective has been around for so long yet unfortunately they have always seemed to slip under the radar when quality veteran metal acts are discussed. This is the Locomotive re-release of their 2004 neck-snapper Beast of Bourbon, a highly energetic and strong thrash attack that should easily appeal to fans of early Accept, Overkill, Exodus, and Testament. Most of the songs have to do with, well, you guessed it, alcohol, with tunes like "Die with a Beer in Your Hand", "Dead Men Drinking", and "Beyond the Pubyard" not only hilarious for their lyrical content, but killer fist pumping thrash anthems that will have you banging your head and chugging your ice cold brew. Guitarist Andy Gutjahr spews out plenty of meaty and catchy riffs here, especially on the Annihilator flavored "The Horde", the crushing "Slipping from Reality", and the precision attack of "Alien Revenge". Singer Andreas "Gerre" Geremia is in fine form throughout, his high pitched, snarling delivery fitting the bill on these lean, mean, booze-soaked thrash anthems. Lovers of 80's styled Euro-thrash can do no wrong in investigating this 45-minute metal platter, which hopefully will give this veteran act some of the kudos that they've long deserved. Andreas "Gerre" Geremia - vocals Andy Gutjahr - guitar Frank Thorwarth - bass, backing vocals Olaf Zissel - drums
