Front Line Assembly: Reclamation (remaster)

Rising from the ashes of Skinny Puppy, Bill Leeb found himself working in tandem with another local musician from Vancouver, Canada named Michael Balch (later of Ministry) to form the pioneering Industrial/Electronic band Front Line Assembly in 1986.

This recording Reclamation was originally released in 1997 as a singles collection that offered remixes of titles spanning from 1989-1994, along with some new tracks to entice people--already possessing the previous versions-- to purchase. Sounding very much the techno recording, many of the remakes are somewhat longer than previous iterations and are given a more substantial electronic treatment; sometimes coming off a bit similar if one is not paying sufficient attention. One thing is for sure--it does a pretty good job of trying to target all of your senses through hypnotic digital rhythms and intense lyrics; also quite likely is the tendency of the music to inspire one to dance--if so inclined, that is.

The packaging (courtesy of Metal Mind) is exceptional with a very glossy Digipack cover, booklet and 24 bit remastering process to top it off. Also, keep in mind that this is limited to 2000 copies and considering the wider audience, they probably won't last long. Essential listening for those into techno flavorings and strange brain-rattling sound effects.
