Darkest Hour: Deliver Us

On their latest effort Deliver Us , D.C. based metalcore veterans Darkest hour have delivered yet another lethal set of ferociously melodic and thought provoking material. These guys crank out some pretty intense, whiplash inducing jams over the course of ten tracks (in just less than 40 minutes), the transitional piece "The Light At The End Of The World", not included. The dual guitar assault of Mike Schleibaum and Kris Norris deliver plenty of high octane riffage as John Henry's abrasive vocal attack soars majestically over their twin harmonies in song after song. The production duties are handled once again by Devin Townsend who also puts in a brief guest appearance trading off solos with Norris on the track "Full Imperial Collapse". The band does shift gears and lets down the brutal factor briefly on tracks "A Paradox With Flies", as well as a short acoustic interlude on "Tunguska" before Norris lets rip with another one of his trademark solos. However save for those moments, it's full on, in your face brutality the rest of the way. This is one hell of a ride and Darkest Hour have once again successfully combined their raw and energetic attack with a keen sense of melody and in the process, taken their music to another level on Deliver Us.
