One listen to the opening track "Regnum Satani (In League With Satan We Ride)" off of Hacavtitz's second disc Katun should be enough to convince you that this duo from Mexico are deadly serious about spreading their deadly 'cult' metal out to the masses. Katun didn't come without its price though as shortly after the group issued their brutal debut Venganza in 2006, the quartet was suddenly reduced to the core duo of Antimo Buonnano (voice, guitar & bass) and Oscar Garcia (drums). Undeterred they simply headed back into the studio and conjured up a significantly more intense and focused slab of demonic rage. The music is raw and unrelenting as they serve up heaping amounts of razor sharp infused guitar riffs combined with breakneck drumming and plenty of vocal venom which is the basis for their primal sound. While Venganza offered albeit brief respites from their driving attack by slowing things down in places, you will not be spared on Katun. It is as straight up as it comes and this is 50 minutes of some of the most brutal and inspired music of its genre. Simply put Katun will wipe the floor with the majority of the imposters out there that pose as the real deal. Where Venganza was just the initiation, Katun now offers you all the privileges that the cult has to offer. Oh yeah, the icing on the cake as if it needs it, the brilliant rip though the Dark Angel cover "Hunger Of The Undead".
