Cursed,The: Room Full Of Sinners

For those of you who don't know, The Cursed is a metal veteran project with members from Overkill (Singer, Bobby Ellsworth) and Hades (Guitarist, Dan Lorenzo). The music is played with a bluesy, lean and mean approach where the riffs and lyrics are not polished to excess. There is also a quirky sense of humor that emerges from time to time adding to the overall relaxed atmosphere. To hear "Blitz" singing about sex in some of the songs was interesting because those types of lyrics only seem to be found in rap recordings these days. Somewhere along the line metal became a little too politically correct, but that notion is laid to rest with the song "Generate Her" with Bobby singing, "I'll have you licking my pride". As you can see he is not shy in his lyrical endeavors.

Influences for the band that come to mind are Motorhead, Buck Cherry and even Frank Sinatra! On "Serpentine Slither" the band is laying down a swing vibe with crooning vocal melodies on top that will leave you somewhere between a wonder and a doubt after hearing it the first time! Somehow it works!? It also adds a layer of contrast to a disc that is for the most part, in your face.

If you like your music blue-collar, played with plenty of heavy guitar and a back to the basics feel, Room Full Of Sinners is going to be something that you will want to pick up. Just keep in mind that this is not a thrash record in the likes of Overkill.
