Fiorletta, Simone: My Secret Diary

Italian shredder Simone Fiorletta follows up his band Moonlight Comedy's album Dorothy with a second collection of solo sojourns that highlight his fiery solo style and remind us of the supreme joy that well-played guitar can bring. Joined by Andrea De Paoli (Labyrinth), Tony Liotta (Sting, Tina Turner) and the simply named Pasko, Fiorletta breezes through "I Came Back," "To Fly Over The Rainbow" and "Only Three Minutes To Dream" with ease. Perhaps not the most unique voice of his generation, he does inspire ear-to-ear grins at times and gives us a nice dose of gorgeous melancholy via "You Are My Past, Present, Future" and the intro to "The Beginning Of A New Era." The smooth jazz of "Good Bye," though, has got to go.
