Warbringer: One by One, The Wicked Fall

Levi's Denim Jacket…check, Marlboro Reds…check, Supply of tall boys…check,

Well, I think you probably get the idea. Warbringer is a band who brings everything from the early thrash period along with them for the ride. On their debut E.P., One By One, The Wicked Fall these Ventura, California natives bring what may be the purest and most believable representation of that era into 5 amazing tracks. You can hear Hell Awaits era Slayer along with Destruction, Exodus and even some early Megadeth (especially, in some of the leads). You could almost be fooled into thinking that you have been somewhere else and the music trend has stayed the same.

According to the bio, the band recorded this effort in just two days! This is absolutely incredible considering the quality of the recording and not to mention, the integrity of the songs. There just seems to be a spontaneity and attitude in the performances that is missing from modern metal these days. When you here the declaration "We will give you what you're waiting for…Total War!" The band just earns instant street cred. and the prevailing attitude is that you can suck on their white ass if you don't get it!

As for the songs…Do any of you even remember what a chorus is? Thankfully, these guys do. What about a mosh break in the middle of the tune? It's all here and then some! Throw in some solos (every song) with distinctive and very cool vokills and this discussion is about done. The only thing missing (?) …Yeah, you guessed it! The other 5 songs! Hey, somebody out there front these guys a keg and they will seal deal.

These 18 minutes are an absolute gas from end to end and truly represents "the future of the past" if I can borrow a phrase from Vader. Hopefully, one of the bigger labels will do music a huge favor and sign these guys. In the meantime, check out their website, buy their CD and go catch them on the road.
