Welcome to the world of Swedish rock band Mozkovitch, whose self-titled debut is a spirited homage to 70's hard rock bands like Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Grand Funk Railroad, and Humble Pie. This debut also happens to find itself on the brand new record label BLP Music, owned by Baltimoore's Bjorn Lodin. What you get here are ten songs fueled by fuzz-drenched heavy rock guitar riffs, swirling Hammond organ, and the smoky vocals of Arvid Jonsson. His bloozy delivery oozes from the doom-laden crunch of "Clock Wise", and he recalls the late, great Phil Lynnott on the dual guitar driven "Addiction". If you like hard rockin' guitar/organ freakouts, just check out "Mother Earth", "Wheels of Fire", "Overdose Roll", and "Gloryhole", and on the snarling "Raging Bull", the guitar team of Frank Thunstrom & Erik Wallberg really lay down some Thin Lizzy-ish thunder. Apparently the average age of the band members is an astonishing 17 years old (!?), which is astonishing considering that none of them were obviously born when their influences were out conquering the world. This is solid and enjoyable stuff, showing that 70's retro rock is alive and well in Sweden.
