Cello and guitar in a 'eavy rock setting blah, blah, blah. Innovative this, risk-taking that, the inventiveness, the gimmickry, the shimmery, shimmery lights of the local dive bar. Comprised of Walken's Max Doyle and Zack Farwell, plus Jackie Perez Gratz of
Amber Asylum and Giant Squid fame, this San Fran trio serves up some powerfully grating soup. Yeah, it's cool that there's cello (one of my favorite instruments) and guitar going on but the flickin' drums sound like they were recorded in my grandmother's sun room and the melodic ideas are about as interesting as my 10-year-old nieces observations on globalization. "Song For You" sounds like Deep Purple jamming with Kronos Quartet and has some cool moments but it's nothing that hasn't been done before or wasn't done, like, 300 years ago by Kronos Quartet or Deep Purple. And closing this whole thing out with a 20-minute track when it can barely hold the listener's interest for three? Unthinkable! Unconscionable! Unlistenable! Repeat!
