Xentrix: For Whose Advantage? (remaster)

The sophomore release from UK thrash act Xentrix originally came out in 1990 on Roadrunner Records, now remastered and reissued by Metal Mind Productions. For Whose Advantage sees Xentrix take their Bay Area thrash influenced sound one step futher, as the songwriting shows a bit of improvement from their debut Shattered Existence. Some of the tunes are a bit catchier this time around, as the band seemed more intent than ever on putting together some memorable melodies to go along with their potent metal attack. Tracks like "Desperate Remedies", "Questions", "Kept in the Dark", and the title track, all contain brutal thrash riffs and pounding rhythms, with the vocals of Chris Astley strong as ever with the just the slightest hint of Chuck Billy from Testament. Many of the arrangements were getting a bit more technical, evidenced by such crushing yet intricate pieces like "Human Condition" and "The Bitter End". This reissue includes a few bonus tracks, all coming from the Dilute to Taste EP that was released in 1991, and includes a live version of their notorious cover of "Ghostbusters". If you don't already have this important component of early 90's thrash, now's a good time to pick this up.
