If you were expecting the same old Carnal Forge CD this time around, think again. On the new Testify For My Victims, the band steps outside itself just a little bit, and goes in a slightly different direction. Carnal Forge fans need not fear; nothing too drastic. What they've done is venture out musically and added some very different textures and feel, giving some of the songs much more of a melodic feel than anything they've ever done before, mixing in some different elements. It works very well for them. The Swedish roots are still there and the vocals of Jens C. Mortenson (who replaced Jonas Kjellgren in 2004 after that singer went on to concentrate solely on Scar Symmetry) are at their screaming best. Songs such as "Burning Eden" and the title track are sure to become fan favorites, and the band still can pound when needed, as proven on the more traditional "Subhuman".
Fans of this style of Thrash Metal will enjoy the CD as the songs are very catchy, well produced, and the band sounds as tight as ever.
