Veteran German thrashers Dew Scented return primed and better than ever with their new offering Incinerate. After the brief intro "Exordium", the opus really kicks off with the high octane "Vanish Away", in which Dew Scented immediately let you know they're back and remind you why they're one of the top notch bands from the "new" era of thrash. Things just continue to get better with the ripping dual guitar work of Hendrik Bache and Flo Mueller on "That's Why I Despise You" and "Into The Arms Of Misery", which has a real old school vibe. The slower "Retain The Scars" burns with intensity highlighted by Uwe Werning's machine gun double bass drumming. The skin pounding of Werning is a high point throughout "Incinerate". The vocals of Leif Jensen are delivered with their trademark feeling of angst, which top off the blistering songs perfectly. Metal legends Mille Petrozza of Kreator and Annihilator's Jeff Waters, as well as Firewind's Gus G., all make guest appearances on Incinerate.
Dew Scented doesn't change their formula much, but they do their thing very well. Whether or not it's as good as Impact or Inwards, fans of the band will make that determination. Whatever the outcome, Incinerate should be heard.
