Scarecrow Collection: Radio Frequency Disaster

It's great when a young band strips away all the posturing, pretense, ego, and image conscious aura that is so prevalent in many musical acts these days. That seems to be the case with Scarecrow Collection, a New Jersey based band whose second release Radio Frequency Disaster is a rootsy collection of pop and rock songs, played with all the emphasis on the songs and barely a trace on what they image or impact will be on the world. Hints of The Black Crowes, Joe Cocker, Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers Band, James Taylor, Govt. Mule, and even a little Dave Matthews, can be heard in their music. The songs here are filled with swirling Hammond organ, tasty guitar licks, and the soulful vocals of Gerard Fee, who really has a sense for passionate and melodic delivery. Highlight tunes include the catchy "All The Things", the hard rocking "Act That Way", the funky rhythms of the toe-tapping "Put You Down", the gritty blues-rock of "Bottle", and the snappy funk/jazz of the wah-wah laced "Moon Will Always Rise". With plenty of breezy melodies, lush acoustic guitar, tight rhythms, passionate vocals, and strong keyboard & guitar instrumentation, Radio Frequency Disaster is a solid sophomore release from Scarecrow Collection, that differs from some of the more jam-based acts on the Harmonized Records roster, but is sure to find an increased fanbase thanks to the quality of the songs contained here.
