EverBlue: EverBlue

Taking cues from the music of the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties, EverBlue makes honest, passionate and real rock that (believe it or not) originates in Los Angeles – one of the least honest, passionate and real places on the planet. Were the quartet's independent self-titled debut CD released in a different era, EverBlue's timeless music could have propelled the band to the top of both the pop and rock charts. These songs are that good, deeply rooted in the human experience and bursting with broad, commerical appeal. Indeed, each of the 14 tracks on EverBlue — powered by Adam Exler's soulful, slightly Southern-sounding vocals — becomes instantly familiar after only one or two spins, and each of them could be considered an album highlight. No two songs sound the same, despite being loaded with fun hooks, sweet harmonies and pure emotion. Just don't try slotting EverBlue into a convenient musical category; the band's four members bring to this album an array of influences that include Rush, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Badfinger, Third Day, Eddie Van Halen, Duane Allman, Gerry Rafferty, Stevie Wonder, B.B. King, Elvis Costello and The Beatles. A little Hootie & the Blowfish occasionally slips in, too, but that's OK. After all, those guys became the biggest band in the land — if only for a short time.
