Trendkill: No Longer Buried

If you have ever read any of my other reviews you know that I'm a BIG fan of the heavy music coming out of Sweden. Well here we go again. Another Swedish export, Trendkill deliver a killer CD with their latest release, No Longer Buried.

Trendkill have a brutal sound that reminds you of a Mnemic or even slightly of a mighty Meshuggah, while still sounding very much like themselves. That "same, but different" thing. Produced by Christian Silver and Johan Ornborg, Trendkill deliver a great performance here. With heavy grooves and guitar riffs leading the way, Trendkill show why their 2003 demo Break the Silence received so much praise. Machine gun drums and off time signatures will please any heavy, technical music fan, as well as the death or metalcore die- hard.

No Longer Buried opens with the bombastic "Judge Me Now", an in your face power track that gets you headbanging from the word go. Trendkill have taken the metalcore idea and run with it, Swedish style. Great musicianship all the way around, with the drums being a vital part of what makes Trendkill tick. If you like your metal in your face and rammed down your throat, you will love Trendkill.

Trendkill have taken their influences of Meshuggah, Machine Head and the legendary Sepultura and fused it together into a powerful force to be reckoned with. Sweden, already at the front of the metal line, have another band ready to get in line, and with No Longer Buried, Trendkill will continue to build on an already growing fan base with this killer CD. Mean, heavy and with a snarl, can you ask for much more from a metal disc?
