xREPRESENTx: True At All Costs

If you are looking for some brutal, metallic hardcore, look no further than True At All Costs, the latest from Pennsylvania's xREPRESENTx. These guys don't throw any gimmicks at you, don't mix in any emo-type vocals, just slay the listener with memorable, crunchy guitar riffs, straightforward arrangements, plenty of intense breakdowns, and perfectly accentuated vocal shouts. Some tunes, like "Marked" and "Live It Up", have a pretty catchy chorus to go along with their mosh tendencies, and while there are some metal moments here from a guitar standpoint, the band makes it clear (like on "Infection") that this is hardcore all the way. Unlike some bands of this kind, xREPRESENTx really sounds like they are having a blast and don't take themselves too seriously, which really comes across in the music. So don't expect anything groundbreaking here, but if you like hardcore that doesn't fall into any "need to get on MTV" trappings, give this a listen.
