I'm tempted to give this alternative all-star project a rather enthusiastic thumbs up. Seattle’s VALIS make some tasty, albeit noisy, stoner rock that draws heavily (and equally) from the post-grunge era and Seventies classic rock. Consisting of members from Nineties alternative cult favorites Screaming Trees (singer and guitarist Van Conner) and TAD (bass player Kurt Danielson), VALIS craft exquisitely sloppy songs (with titles like “Indian Giver,” “Mealworm” and “Love Loader”) as only truly experienced musicians can.
What the hell? These guys deserve a full four-and-a-half-stars!
