Meet Norwegian band Audrey Horne (named after a character from David Lynch's Twin Peaks). The guitars are angular, at times muddy, never raucous. The singer's voice is gravelly, but without the painful rasp. The songs are formulaic — think the myriad acts on FM today that churn out angsty, whiny songs where growing up middle-class (oh, the agony) is concerned — and the album as a whole won't fend off that great equalizer Homogeneity. To be fair, No Hay Banda is melodic, even radio-ready, fare — no cookie monsters or danger of goth–OD. The third song in, "Get A Rope," is catchy and there's even a bit of Tron strings. "Confessions & Alcohol" sounds strangely familiar. Face it, there truly is a glut of this sorta stuff. For listeners of HIM, Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed.
