Take a little bit Type O Negative, some 69 Eyes, a tad H.I.M., a smidgen of Danzig, plus some elements of The Cult, Paradise Lost, Fields of the Nephilism, and Sisters of Mercy, and you get something that sounds like the Swedish gothic horror rock combo Tenebre. The bands fifth album Heart's Blood is filled with catchy hooks, dark atmosphere, chilling keyboards, and driving guitar riffs. There's no shortage of engaging tracks here, like the anthemic "Serpent's Fire", the can't miss hooks of "Mistress of the Dark", the gritty gothic hard rock of "Silver Flame", and the uptempo crunch of "Pray". That said, for some ,many of the tracks here might ponder along at a tempo which is too similar to the song before it (no doubt the one dimensional vocals might be the culprit there), and the slower, more morosely gothic pieces are a tad depressing. However, there's still enough to recommend here to folks who like gothic hard rock with spooky vocals and catchy instrumentation.
