To This Day: Chapter 1-Between the Bridges

To This Day hails from Buffalo, New York, and play a mix of brutal hardcore and metal, big on fat guitar riffs and screaming vocals. Fans of popular acts like Hatebreed, Every Time I Die, It Dies Today, and early Dead to Fall will find plenty to like here if you dig that style. There though lies the problem. While To This Day have plenty of skill and aggression, this is music that we've all heard a thousand times before. If you can get past the lack of originality here, then there's no doubt the endless barrage of crunchy riffs on songs like "Legend" and "Spelunking" will pound you into submission and leave you screaming for more. All of the songs run in the 2-3 minute range, and there's no let up at all over the course of the CD's 35 minutes. After a while though each song tends to sound the same, and like I mentioned there are a few diamonds in the rough, but not enough overall to lift this release past average status.
