The best rock n roll band since Guns N' Roses!"...Lemmy of Motorhead
Well, Lemmy, those are pretty bold words, but there's no denying that Kill Cheerleader, despite the awful band name, have a knack for putting together some rawkin' and rowdy hard rock and metal on their debut All Hail. While this Toronto trio certainly wear their influences on their sleeves (Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, Stone Temple Pilots, Backyard Babies, Girlschool, Motorhead, The Stooges, etc), fans of sleaze rock with a commercial edge should eat this up. While certainly not heavy enough to be called pure metal, too hard rock to be called punk, the music on All Hail has a certain rough age but is just catchy enough to peak the interest of mainstream rock fans. If you like hard driving anthems, look no further than songs like "Find Your Own Way Home" or "I Want Action", two cuts that certainly merit jumping in the converible, easing the top down, cranking up the volume, and going out for a speedy ride.
While the music of Kill Cheerleader is not the most original you are going to hear all year, I can predict with a little word of mouth and some airplay, that this could catch on to a mainstream audience. If your tastes fall into heavier or more progressive delicacies however, you might want to look elsewhere.
