Combining modern day metalcore with a heaping amount of avant-garde mayhem ala Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, and Korn, San Francisco's Domeshots have put together an decent release here with Reception. Featuring the uncomprimising and at times unconventional vocals of Danner Alexander, Domeshots throw a dozen quick and manic songs at the listener here, complete with razor sharp, technical guitar riffs, and hardcore/punk styled rhythms. If you like your music with plenty of breakdowns, a mix of maniacal and clean vocals, and dizzying guitar work, then this CD will certainly be for you. However, much of what the band presents here has obviously been done before-they are certainly not breaking any new ground, but what they do they do well. Tracks like "Shoulder", "Ego & Existence", and "OMG" show plenty of talent, and I'm sure live these guys are a house of fire. Fans of Killswitch Engage, Between the Buried and Me, and Bleeding Through should probably check this one out.
