Bob Lord, perhaps best known (and, even then, sadly unknown) as the bassist in the highly complex, rhythmically askew and super groovy trio Dreadnaught, also is making a name for himself composing and producing audio and scores for film, TV, videogames and multimedia projects. Seventeen examples of his work can be found on the aptly titled Audio For Film, TV and Games. Song-oriented classical and jazz numbers, ambient music and novelty pieces fill this disc, some lasting less than a minute with many in the one- to three-minute range. Unfortunately, the sparse liner notes don't provide listeners with details about the works for which these pieces were written, but the aural snippets are fun nonetheless. The album flows better than you'd expect, and Lord's wit shows up in song titles like "(My Sweet Little) Turducken," "Wyoming Vice," "Rosie the Riveter," "Pedro, I Hope You Finish 6-14 With a 5.08 ERA" and "To Bob Woodward." At 36 minutes, Audio For Film, TV and Games is just the right length, and it'll probably whet listeners' appetites for something a bit more substantial from Lord — like Dreadnaught's Live at Mojo or Musica En Flagrante.
