Swiss rockers Shakra deliver a great performance with their 5th release, Fall. Showing what was great about the late '80's & the early to mid '90's, Shakra gives you, simple, powerful and melodic hard rock, that seems to have gone away here in the US in recent years, but is still very much alive across the pond. Big choruses, great guitar riffs and just flat out cool songs!
Fall is a 12 track CD and is also the US debut that fans of Euro Hard Rock/ Metal, ala TNT, Thunderhead, Sentenced, Primal Fear/Sinner and Angra will just eat up. New singer, Mark Fox's raspy, throaty, passionate vocals are different for sure, but work well. Fall is full of rockers like "Out of Control" and mid paced anthems like the title track, "Fall". This would be a very AOR friendly sounding record, complete with a ballad like "How It Feels". But don't let the ballad fool ya, these guys do bring the rock!
Shakra isn't trying to break new ground here with the release of Fall. Heavy Rockers for the Metalheads, ballads for the chicks and plain old mid tempo rockers for anyone in between. With great musicianship, cool songs and big haunting choruses, if you like old school hard rock, then you'll enjoy this CD. No "Hair" band fluff here, just straight up Hard Rock with some catchy tunes! Thank God for Euro Hard Rock!
