Type O Negative: Bloody Kisses

Bloody Kisses would break a lot of ground for Type-O-Negative as it would not only bring fans a hefty amount of great songs but it would also find the band receiving radio play for the first time. A wide mix of Sabbath inspired Metal with a very deep use of keyboards made this a sure fire hit. Featuring a little bit of everything Steele and Company provide mood and intensity with songs like the three part "Christian Woman" & "Bloody Kisses: A Death In The Family". These two songs truly showcase the imposing Steele at his best while "Black #1" became the anthem for Gothic Girls everywhere. There is a tongue-in-cheek TON sense of humor displayed in both "Kill All The White People" and "We Hate Everyone". The band's level of sarcasm touches upon people's misconceptions about them perfectly during these tracks. "Bloody Kisses" is still cited as the fan favorite because it is a constant body of quality Gothic Metal from top to bottom. Silver and his compositions tie the songs together and are an added treat that bring more to the atmospheric level that the band is building. I feel that this is a perfect jumping on point for the new listener because with so many great songs in one place this album was responsible for building the die hard fan base that Type-O-Negative has managed to retain for many years. It is my personal favorite as well and even when looking to hear one or two tracks you will find yourself allowing the entire album to run its course. My favorites are too numerous to list from this album so suffice it to say I label this a "must-have" for ones Metal collection. Lyrics, photos and liner notes are aplenty in the fold-out booklet but sadly this will be the last recording for Sal Abruscato on drums as he left the band after this album is released. Isn't it time you got a little Negative?
