Long Winter's Stare: Cold Tale Eternal

Not sure where these guys come from (their URL doesn't work), but they seem poised to make a name for themselves in the art-goth tangent of modern metal extremism. The use of contrabass is highly reminiscent of My Dying Bride's dark classicism, while the fusion of isolated ambient soundscapes with true blue metal chord progressions satisfies both the armchair headbanger and pit fiend in all of us. "Anastasia" even finds the band delving into folk melodies without bastardizing the integrity of the music.

While a bit short at seven songs and just over 20 minutes, Cold Tale Eternal will whet the appetite until the boys can whip up a full course offering.
