The six song EP Sunsets by the Russian band Yuggeth contains late 80s style heavy metal combined with enough modern flares to not sound too predictable. As a demo CD, this shows a lot of promise. "Bitter Choice" opens with good riffs and the serious growls of Konstantin Korostov. The bands former Death Metal influences are felt on "Gene Of Violence", but the guitar interplay of Stanislav Ivanov and Ivan Lytkin keep this teetering on the Hard Rock corner.
You won't really find anything unique here, but Sunsets shows a band that is working hard at making a name for themselves. April Wine inspired guitar solos combined with Tommy Victor styled vocals provide a fresh sound to an old genre. The attempt at "Funky Style Suicide" shows that the band is trying to reach out, but this combination of Funk and Thrash just doesn't quit come off, but you have to give them credit for the effort.
Watch for a full release by Yuggoth in the near future. This demo shows the promise that could be coming from the Russian Front.
