This is about as extreme as it gets folks. California's Disgorge perform some seriously sick, heavy, and maniacal sounds on their latest brutal death grind platter Parallels of Infinite Torture. Seriously, this stuff is not for the faint of heart. Absolutely brutal, intense, and intricate guitar riffs, wild drum fills with plenty of blast beats, and the inhuman cookie monster grunts of new frontman Levi Fuselier form the basis for the Disgorge sound. While these tunes from a technical standpoint are expertly played, after a few songs everything starts to sound the same. Many of the riffs and song tempos are fairly similar, and the grunting of Fuselier basically treads the same path song after song, and you can forget about understanding a lick of it. A song like "Atonement" really hit the mark for me, as the mammoth guitar dirges were a tad slower and the pacing of the song a little varied, and "Forgotten Scriptures" also had a nice doom feel and some atmospherics, but the most part I had a hard time getting through many of the tracks here without getting a bit bored. These guys can certainly play, but they need to vary their attack a little but and get their new singer to alter his style a little before they will appeal to a larger death metal audience.
