Resindust: Resindust

Resindust is a little project put together by multi-instrumentalists Lewis Gill and Tony Harn, both of whom have released solo albums in the past, Gill's Vivahead and Harn's Moving Moons being the two most recent. The music on Resindust is a mix of spacey ambient textures, not unlike Tangerine Dream or early Pink Floyd ("Windscream" and "Vorpmix" are two good examples) and the occasional dive into splendid progressive rock, which they do so well on the lovely "Suzanna". This track sounds almost like a long lost Genesis song, with some soothing whispered vocals from Gill, lush acoustic guitars and plenty of moody keyboards. The title track treads similar ground, this time with Hackett-esque electric guitar patterns making a statement over the waterfall of keys. "Cotlife" again dives into Pink Floyd territory, with some bluesy guitar lines stabbing over a backdrop of synths, but they return back to Zeit-like space explorations for the lengthy closer "Critical".

This is not a CD that is going to cause much excitement, but Gill and Harn are pretty good at creating moody instrumental prog and ambient space pieces. Check it out of you like this sort of thing.
