Transubstans Records' description of the debut CD from Sweden's Drahk von Trip as "progressive, psychedelic rock containing excitement, thrill … and mystery" is, shall we say, half correct. The eclectic Heart & Consequence certainly fits the "prog" and "psych" monikers, but it's a mystery where the excitement and thrills are lurking. Drahk von Trip is led by the fluttery and flighty female vocals of Susann (no last name is provided on the cheap CDR packaging and poorly written media sheet provided to SoT). Think of a third-rate version of The Gathering. Lengthy improvised jams that meander a bit too much and feature a diverse orchestra of ethnic instruments, bizarre lyrics and a little chunk of Violent Femmes attitude may endear Heart & Consequences to some listeners. But this Trip certainly isn't for everyone.
