Particle Zoo: Loneliness And Strangers

Particle Zoo have released a new CD entitled Loneliness And Strangers, a strange title for such an upbeat CD. This is pure power-pop in the vein of The Samples or Three O'Clock. The brainchild of Jeff Devito, Particle Zoo follow pretty simple formulas to create interesting, accessible music. The bass work of Scott Greene develops some of the songs into an almost They Might Be Giants groove.

"Pi In The Sky" is a catchy, riff laden song that will get you singing along after only one listen. "Toe In The Grave" harkens back to earlier pop with a Bay City Rollers sound. "You Cut Me Down" is the most alt-rock of the bunch with melodic singing over heavy feedback guitars mixed with acoustic guitars.

There isn't anything not to like on Loneliness And Strangers, but on the other hand, there isn't anything to get excited about. Particle Zoo make great party music or background driving music, but overall, not a CD that takes much concentration. This CD is recommended for fans of easily acceptable, radio friendly power-pop.
