Doomherre: Bonegoat

Swedish doomsters Doomherre arrive with their debut album Bonegoat, a crushing eight-song affair that will please any fan of Master of Reality era-Black Sabbath, Candlemass, Saint Vitus, Trouble, and Alice in Chains. Right from the opening title track, massive Iommi-inspired riffing hits you over the head like a sledgehammer, the song also steeped in atmosphere, haunting church bells, evil whispers, and ragged, anguished vocals. "We Come For the Witch" also pummels, the riffs reminding of early Candlemass, a vibe they also replicate on the monstrous "Forgotten One" and the absolutely killer "Breaking the Seal". Just when you think the barnstorming riffing can't get any better, in comes "Circle of Blood", "Spreading the Sound of Doom", and "Man in the Tower", which kind of scratch the itch for acts like The Obsessed and Spirit Caravan.

If you are doom fan, Bonegoat is an absolute no brainer of a purchase. Gobs and gobs of mountainous riffs, screaming wah-wah guitar solos, gruff vocals, and groovy, pounding drums. More please!
