Ground Shaker, The: Rogue Asylum

The Ground Shaker is a four piece modern/alternative rock band hailing from Switzerland. They released their debut album Down The Hatch in 2017 and followed it with their sophomore release Rogue Asylum in 2023.

The Ground Shaker play straight ahead modern rock music, maybe a little alternative thrown in, loaded with guitar riffs and catchy choruses. At times Reign’s voice reminded me of the lead singer of Green Day, with a bit of that punky attitude.

There are thirteen tracks with little variation in running times, mostly in the three to four minute range. “88 Strong As A Lion� is a raw and energetic opener with soaring vocals in the chorus and a driving rhythm section. “Mask Of Insanity� has a nice mix of acoustic and electric guitar as does the extremely catchy “A World Which Only I Can See�. The more wistful “I Wonder Why� has a little more variety with softer moments breaking up the riffage. All the tracks are at least decent so that bolds well for the next release.

There are some good grooves here and the band has plenty of potential, but I would like to hear the band mix it up more on their next album. Maybe even add some keyboards for a little colour. Still, Rogue Asylum is enjoyable for what it is, pure guitar driven modern rock.
