I hate being negative in reviews. However, it’s difficult for me to pretend I find much to like on Mondo Generator’s latest album We Stand Against You.
Generic, metallic hard rock with an angsty punk-rock attitude Is the name of the game here, and whilst it’s difficult to be specifically critical of the release (the playing and production are all fine), the compositions just sound bland and generic to my ears.
No doubt Nick Oliveri is a revered name, being a founding member of Kyuss and playing in Queens of the Stone Age. Unfortunately, his long and impressive CV in the industry doesn’t allow me to enjoy this album, which I’d suggest is best recommended to his diehard fans only!
