Weite: Assemblage

Assemblage is the debut album from Weite (pronounced 'vight-a' I believe), a new band out together by Elder's Nicholas DiSalvo & Michael Risberg, along with Ingwer Boysen and Ben Lubin. Featuring just four tracks, Assemblage is all instrumental psych/prog music, and seeing as all the members are guitar players, they all share in the six & four string duties, with I believe Nick tackling the drum duties. As you might expect, lots of lush guitar layers here, which jump right out at you on the expansive opener "Neuland", which has an almost Discipline-era King Crimson feel to it. "Entzündet" is oddly Pink Floydian with its floating echoes, and "Rope" almost dips into haunting psychedelic fusion territory. Epic closer "Murmuration" sees the band using some nice synth melodies and extended guitar explorations, bring the album to an exciting conclusion.

While Weite are definitely venturing into different sonic territory than Elder or even delving, if you like either of those two bands that these fellows are in, then Assemblage should be a no brainer to investigate.
