Sahg: Live Demons

One year on from their sixth studio album, Born Demon, heavy metal doom heroes Sahg return with the explosive Live Demons. A four track live EP, short this may be, but rest assured that these Norwegians use every second available to perfectly showcase their riffed up howls that seem to teeter precariously between the danger of Motorhead, the majesty of Dio era Black Sabbath and the razor sharp hooks of Judas Priest. In short, why this band aren’t huge I cannot tell you!

With all four songs coming from Born Demon, this breathless dash through all mater of metal madness picks you up and plops you right in the middle of Sahg's rabid live crowd. Forceful enough to knock you sideways and rough enough around the edges to give a real ‘I was there’ feel, “House Of Worship� reveals this outfit’s ability to grind while lashing you with melodic goodness. The anguished expulsions of “Heksedans� adds a might more drama to the pot but then there’s also a huge ‘nah-nah-nah-nahhh-nah’ singalong for good measure. And so it goes, “Black Cross On The Side Of The Moon� planted deep into the mind, while “Fall Into Fire� has one of the best riffs delivered in the last 10 years - and live it hits even harder!

Put quite simply Sahg deserve to much better known than they are and having seen the band live on a UK jaunt a few years back I can attest that on stage they make an even bigger impact. Live Demons does a superb job of illustrating that very fact.

Released as a standalone EP (digital only from what I can see), if you haven’t already snapped up the excellent Born Demon album, a newly released deluxe version, which features this EP’s four tracks, is also now available.
