Faide, Alex Anthony: Particles of the Infinite

Argentinian Alex Anthony Faide, now based in Seattle and founding member of the surf rock band Los Twang! as well as a sought-after guitarist, has released his first solo album titled Particles of the Infinite. The tracks are simply titled “Parts I to IX�, adding up to around fifty minutes of music. The artist has been profoundly influenced by King Crimson and Fripp has no doubt informed his mastery of the guitar. Besides Faide (electric guitar and bass) guest musicians include:

Matt Chamberlain (drums on “Parts I and IV�)
Pat Mastelotto (drums on “Part II�)
Alessandro Inolti (drums on “Parts III, IV, V, VII, and VIII�)

Faide has taken inspiration from classic Crimson tunes like “Larks Tongues in Aspic� and “Fracture� and reshaped them in a most creative and informed way. The playing is absolutely mesmerizing beginning with “Part I�, starting mellow before intense guitar lines and Chamberlain’s hefty stick work switch into a higher gear. Faide’s guitar ebbs and flows with great care and accuracy. “Part II� is a little less intense but darker around the edges, in contrast with the more melodic and uplifting “Part III� and the atmospheric “Part IV�. Really, there is much to discover with this intriguing and insightful instrumental work. Superb musicianship and arrangements make this essential listening, especially if you enjoy the works of King Crimson and are drawn towards Fripp’s atmospheric endeavours. Highly recommended.
