Kentucky Green: Galactic Acid

The words “Kentucky Green” and “Galactic Acid” don’t seem to belong in the same sentence. Unless, that is, you’re referring to the 2021 release by this Australian stoner-blues trio. Think Black Sabbath meets Kyuss. And know that these dudes can play. From the propulsive rock of “House of the Reptile” that opens this eight-track album to the riffage workout of “Judas Coat” to the spacy detours of “Aurora” to the edgy melodicism of closing cut "Headless Man," Kentucky Green makes music that transcends the limiting “stoner” label. The Jim Morrison-like vocals don’t quite live up to the epicness of the music, but that’s okay when the overall experience exceeds expectations. Did we mention the song titles kick ass, too?
