Now in its sixth decade -- with a history dating back to 1970 -- Maryland’s OHO returns with its latest album. Ahora! is a three-part, 36-minute opus that opens slowly with extended narration set against a majestically proggy, folk-tinged sonic backdrop. Indeed, much of Ahora!, is packed with sumptuous instrumental passages, some that include violin and accordion and many that invoke the grandeur of the classic prog era. Think Genesis. Think Pink Floyd. Even think Jethro Tull (sans flute). The album’s dusty vocals don’t quite match the brilliance and muscle of the music, but that’s okay. OHO focuses on the theme of discovery across these three pieces, and it’s likely -- considering this band’s low profile and limited output over the decades -- listeners are still discovering OHO.
