Hot on the heels of their last studio album UK Combo Wayward Sons have decided to release this latest EP Score Settled which sees Toby Jepson and his merry band of men pretty much carry on where they left off with the last album which is unsurprising really as the 3 new tracks were recorded at the same time as the album sessions. There`s also alongside the new tracks, 3 songs that were only available on the vinyl format, and one that was only available as a Japanese bonus track.
Of the new songs, all of them are perfectly capable rockers with the pick of the bunch being the lead song `Beaten To The Punch` that is a substantial number which highlights what a fine vocalist Jepson is and with a muscular backing but also displaying a touch of finesse too.
`Cant Take It Anymore` is a fairly straightforward rocker, and `Real Go Getta` tends to err on the side of caution and seems to be holding the power back for some reason.
Of the other previously released numbers `Radio Denial ` and `Totally Screwed` are the pick of the bunch both with insistent riffs that power both songs along at 100MPH.
As a standalone release, this is absolutely fine and demonstrates that the band is a formidable force to be reckoned with, but I can only see this appealing to punters that are already fans of the band.
