Highway Sentinels: The Waiting Fire

A wide range of veterans of the rock/metal scene compile a cliche and generic effort from spearheaders Steven Rosen and Jimmy Waldo. Highway Sentinels consists of David Reece (vocals, Bangalore Choir, ex Accept), Steven Rosen (guitars); Jimmy Waldo (keys, Alcatrazz); Donnie Van Stavern (bass, Riot V); Mark Zonder (drums, Fates Warning, Warlord)! Guests include Joe Satriani, Tracii Guns, Bumblefoot, Paul Gilbert, Mike Flyntz, Joe Stump, Herman Frank and more.

Simply not enough here that intrigues the listener to stay for the ride.

There is maybe one or two songs that standout among the bunch, such as the driving and melodic “Face in the Crowd” and “Victim of the Night”

Aside from these two tracks there is not much to offer here.

If you are looking for something fresh and exciting from veterans of the genre, I wouldn't advise listening to this album. A large amount of the album sounds cliche, basic and uninspired, even down to the lyrics.

“You can run for your life or stand and fight” "Spread my wings and start flying" Haven't heard that before...

The vocals often seem fatigued and strained and/or too low of a key for the tracks that are being sung, which leads to a majority of the tracks sounding similar and frankly at times unlistenable, vocally.

You can tell there was a vast amount of effort put into this project. The musicianship is present among the band, however it is simply the writing, vocals, song structure and execution that plagued this album from being a refreshing rock album from veterans of the industry.
