Razing Shallows: Razing Shallows

Here is another new band to me but unfortunately, they do not seem to have any sort of web presence so information is extremely lacking. Anyways, the band is called Razing Shallows and this self titled effort was released in 2021. This do it yourself release contains five tracks with each one rocking pretty hard. The band is influenced by the late ‘60s/early ‘70s classic rock period and the three piece have made a pretty decent album and show plenty of potential. At times the riff progressions could be smoothed out a little more and the production quality needs some attention, but these things can certainly be fine tuned for their next album.

My two favourite tracks are the moody edged rockers “Empire of Lies” and “So Easy”, with both taking a que from Blue Oyster Cult. There is a mysteriousness at play and the band delve into some nice guitar textures and slower grooves with the vocals emitting a somber mood. The bass line and catchy guitar rhythms in “So Easy” add up to a pretty good tune and the album opening “Rescue Me” has a little Hendrix in the biting hard rock guitar and passionate vocals. There are some clunky riff progressions in this one but still not a bad effort.

Hopefully the band can clean up some of the production issues the next time around as the potential is there for some fine ’70 style hard rock.

As of now there is no website and cover image available but will update as they become available.
