Hard rockers CoreLeoni release their third album CoreLeoni III on the 20th of May, it has a bunch of new songs and some reimagined covers from Gotthard and one from the Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones track is the last one on the album but if you want the Gotthard covers they are only on the box set or CD digi-pak. It kicks off with "Let Life Begin Tonight" a hard hitting rock piece but that’s all it is, heavy, not a lot going on and I’ve heard it all before and done a lot better. Next up we have "Purple Dynamite" a nice punchy tune with some excellent guitar work. After that I’m afraid it all goes downhill, the rest of the album is quite boring with not a lot going on that would make me want to listen to it again. A lot will like this as everyone hears things differently.
Now on to the covers, the Rolling Stones "Jumpin' Jack Flash" is very well done but I’m not into the Rolling Stones at all so it did little for me but having heard the original version, this version is way way better. The first cover from Gotthard is "Say Goodbye" and it’s a nice song but little else and unfortunately the other covers are not up to much in my humble opinion as they lack spark and direction. Overall I was disappointed with this album but if you like their previous albums and are a fan of Gotthard then by all means go out and buy it, but it’s a no from me.
