PreHistoric Animals: The Magical Mystery Machine (Chapter 2)

PreHistoric Animals are a prog/alternative rock group from Sweden and to be honest I have never heard of them before I listened to their new album which was released in March. It starts off with a small intro called "Empty Space" which is a nice piece of music. Next up we have "We Harvest the Souls of the Brave" which starts off with a juicy riff then the vocals come in nice and quiet before this pounding riff comes back again and again, an excellent song. Then we have "I am the Chosen One {and I like it}" and yes I do like it a lot with a thundering opening that have you using the air guitar through the whole track, it ends nice and melodic, a stunning composition. The next track is "Ghostfires" which didn’t do a whole lot for me at the start but it gets better the more I listen to it. That is followed-up by "Coras New Secret", which is a lovely song that has prog written all over it. Then we have "Protectors of the Universe", it for me is the crème de la crème of the album with an awesome guitar lick halfway through. "New Years Eve" is next it’s not a bad one but not a good one either, probably the weakest on the album, which is followed by "Pull Me In", it’s a mellow song and it’s easy on the ears. We end with "It’s a Start, not the End", a beautiful track with nice piano in it and the vocals are superb, it gets heavier and then slows down and builds to a fitting finale.

Overall a good to very good album and I would recommend you give it listen and be pleasantly surprised.
