Venus 5: Venus 5

Heavy power-pop metal is how I would categorize this refreshing self-titled debut from Venus 5. Consisting of five female vocalists from several different European areas, not only are the tracks refreshing in their sound, progression, themes and overall drive, the greatest aspect is that the album keeps the listener intrigued from top to bottom in a compilation of heavy, doomy, progressive and melodic metal.

With heavy tracks like “Lioness� and “Monster under Your Bed� to mid-tempo melodic tracks like “Inside� and “Because of You� there is a hypnotic feel to every song that keeps you hooked. Every piece starts in a unique way ranging from piano melodies and electronic grooves (which at certain points felt too forced) but then manages to take you in a whole new direction and feel by the end of the song. Whether it is the pounding drums, driving guitar riffs or stunning vocal performances, there is a lot to offer for everyone on this record.

The five vocalists seem to effortlessly fit into the songs they perform and put their own touch on their tracks. They sounded very united coming together on the track “We are Dynamite�

However, I believe what makes this album really work and flow are the different atmospheres each vocalist brings to their own respective tracks.

Backed up by a powerful, engaging and heavy band there is definitely a strong future in store for Venus 5.
