Striders, The: Out Of The Blues

Here is another great new band from Sweden. The band is The Striders and they released their debut album titled Out Of The Blues in 2020, and what a great album it is. The four piece rockers from Jönköping play ‘70s retro bluesy hard rock, similar in style to bands like Rival Sons. What stands out to me the most are the vocals and guitar. The riffs are so memorable, sometimes gritty, other times easy flowing and never boring. The band have a dynamic sound and the recording quality is very good. The vocals are simply outstanding, both lead and backing. All four band members provide background vocals which really adds to a full, rich sound.

The band get their groove on early with the opening track “Closer to the Sun�, an excellent, bluesy toe tapper with infectious lead vocals and slow burning guitar work. “Whole Lotta Lovin� features some tasty slide guitar while “Bag full of Bones� is a real scorcher with fiery lead guitar and great vocal harmonies. With “Standing on Top� the sweet guitar intro morphs into a hard rock gem where the riffs and lead vocals are near perfect. “Dandelion� is a pretty guitar led ballad where hints of Pearl Jam come to mind and is followed by the gritty hard rocker “Rock ‘n Roll Star�. The riffs keep coming and the melodies get better and better with each listen. Out Of The Blues is in a word, outstanding!
