Cap Outrun: High on Deception

Progressively based Fusion combined with a large helping of Melodic Rock could be quite possibly an odd mixture to listen to all at once but on High on Deception Swedish-Americans Cap Outrun stamp their authority on the diverse musicality they offer throughout their sophomore record and the shadows on the wall naturally stand out exceptionally with the masterful ten tracks making a grand appearance; hitting all the spots in the right places with an element of ease and a superior sense of a creative intelligence.

The Cap definitely outruns most of the Melodic Rock I have heard this year by an extremely long mile and I cannot believe how excellent this output is, especially with the expressively sensational sections transforming and transcending into a melodically penned gift exploding in the terms of a musical brilliance.

From tracks including the cleverly structured 'My Destination', the catchy funky-feel keys worker on the sublime opener 'Crazy Enough' and the quintessential beauty of the Dream Theater Images and Words era influenced 'Our Brightest Day' - there is just such a mammoth aspect of diversity to indulge on throughout and the temptation not to listen on once you have heard track one is just irresistible.

Sustaining a higher quality on a benefaction as a whole is a very difficult task indeed and to keep an individual listener hooked is a tricky task to say the least, however without any hint of doubt Cap Outrun totally surpass this and when they are distributing impressive bangers in the addictive format of episodes like the Prog grower 'As Long as you Believe', the choppy dynamically symphonic title track 'High on Deception' and the inspiringly crafted tear jerker ballad 'Disaster Mindset' with a terrifically noteworthy Middle-Eastern mid-section, therefore it is evident you just cannot get enough of Cap Outrun and what they have delivered through these commanding aspects of an ambitious musical artistry.

All inclusively, a wonderful production and album from start to finish, this for me is getting top marks and there is no way I could give any credit that was of a lower merit. Simply a phenomenal outfit and unit that is massively capable of very big things in the near future to come.
